As Kogi residents go to the polls to vote for a new governor for the state,
Military operatives on election duty in Igalamela local government area of Kogi State early today intercepted and arrested the council chairman and several supporters for being in possession of ammunition and huge cash.
The soldiers seized the cash running into millions of naira as well as a large cache of ammunition.
The money and the ammunition were packed in several popular ‘Ghana-must-go’ bags and the ammunition. The money and ammunition were allegedly meant for use during the election.
In a viral video sighted by this medium, shows the suspects sitting on the floor near an army checkpoint.
Both the council chairman and his ring were seen expressing regrets and begging for forgiveness but the soldiers were not paying listening ears.
They reportedly confessed that the money was meant for distribution to voters at different polling units within the local government area and Idah area during the governorship election
