Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the recent Kogi governorship election, affirmed his decision not to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory. He cited a loss of faith in the judiciary, claiming it no longer serves as the ultimate recourse for ordinary Nigerians.
Expressing his stance on Wednesday, Melaye criticized the judiciary, “Why should any responsible person go to the tribunal when the APC has captured the judiciary? I’ve lost complete confidence in the judiciary.”
Melaye emphasized his lack of trust in the judiciary, questioning the rationale behind approaching the tribunal when he believes the APC has influenced the judicial system.
This skepticism followed the declaration of Usman Ododo of the APC as the election winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Ododo triumphed over Melaye and Muri Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
