In an effort to cushion the effect of high cost of food in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government,

Hon.Olowa today thursday,22nd February,2024 unveiled the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Community Market Initiative where subsidised foodstuffs were sold and other items were given free as complimentary gifts.

The situation saving bazaar sales brought not only residents of Ibeju-Lekki but also people from adjoining towns who commended the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government led Hon.Abdullahi Sesan Olowa led Administration for its generosity and it's thoughtfulness for drastically reducing the prices of commodities by adding 120% more value to every purchase.The flat rate of #5000.00k which was the most chosen option of purchase from the list of choices saw beneficiaries going home with #11.000 worth of staple foodstuffs and complimentary items like a bottle of palmoil,salt and a pouch of tomatoes and peppers for items on sale which consists of Rice,Beans,

Indomie,Garri,

Eggs and fish.

In his opening address,the Executive Chairman of the Council Area,Hon. Olowa explained the decision of his Administration to subsidise all sales is precipitated by the need to also support the Federal Government and the Lagos State Government in dousing the tension of the high cost of food and providing affordable means of purchase.

The initiative which does not only cater for the consumers but also provides a means of livelihood for sellers who were sourced from various local markets of the Council Area is not a one-off but a monthly affair that will cater for resident's food needs,Mayor Olowa emphasised.

The Council Mayor also seized the opportunity in addressing residents to be patient with Governments at all levels and be law abiding at this trying times till Nigeria regains her stance through conceited efforts being put in place by the Government.

All the beneficiaries from far and near applauded Ibeju-Lekki Local Government for the exercise and for always being proactive in addressing pressing issues that concerns his people while they look forward to the next Community Market day.

Some of the lucky beneficiaries also went home with Free Charcoal Stoves provided by the Local Government to solve their problem of the high cost of Cooking Gas.
