In a devastating turn of events, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos Chapter is mourning the loss of its leader, Ramota Bankole, who tragically passed away after completing her Hajj rites in Saudi Arabia. Bankole, a former Welfare Secretary of the Lagos APC, was among the pilgrims who succumbed to the unbearable heat in the holy land.
News of Bankole's death was confirmed on Thursday by the council chairmen of Epe Local Government, Eredo, and Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area (LCDA). The former politician's demise comes as a shock to her friends and family, who are still reeling from the loss.
Described as a dedicated and active member of the party, Bankole's sudden death has left a void within the Lagos APC. Just last month, she celebrated her 60th birthday, making her passing even more tragic for those who knew her.
As the search continues for missing hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, the death toll from the annual rituals has climbed to over 900, highlighting the dangers faced by attendees in the scorching heat of the region.
The Lagos APC community mourns the loss of Ramota Bankole and remembers her as a committed and hardworking individual who will be greatly missed.
