The Supreme Court has ruled that States should no longer control local government council funds.
The highest court noted in its ruling, read by Justice Emmanuel Agim, that the state administration had been refusing local governments financial autonomy for more than 20 years.
According to him, state governors who represent local governments no longer give them the funding intended for them.
Judge Agim stated that the nation’s 774 local government councils ought to handle their financial management
