Epe (Lagos State), July 30, 2024 (NAN). In a bid to enhance agricultural productivity, Rep. Wale Raji, Member, Representing Epe Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, distributed 384 bags of fertilizer to 384 local farmers to boost agricultural production in Epe.
The distribution of the fertilizer took place in Epe, on Tuesday.
According to him, 600 bags of fertilizer would be distributed to farmers across Epe Federal Constituency as part of the federal government intervention to increase food supply and security. However, 384 fertilizer has been received and all are distributed today, the remaining 216 fertilizer would be distributed to the remaining 216 farmers as soon as there are also received.
Raji said that the initiative aims to improve crop yields and support the agricultural community in the region.
He added that the distribution and selection of beneficiaries were drawn across the constituency, ranging from Epe Local Government, Eredo and Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Areas.
"I can understand the needs of farmers at this crucial time of food security, therefore ,this is part of the much-needed agricultural inputs that will boost their production, " he said.
Raji said that, Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have us all in mind, he understands what we are going through in this crucial period, that is why he roll out this intervention of giving out this fertiliser freely to farmers in order to enhance food production.
"The consignment arrived at the constituency office a few days ago before the distribution today.
"Agriculture is a vital sector for the community's economic growth, " he said.
The lawmaker reiterated his commitment to providing continuous support and resources to enhance agricultural productivity in Epe constituency.
He added that, agriculture remains a cornerstone of the local economy in Epe.
"Initiatives like this are critical for ensuring sustainable development and food security in the region, Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
"The fertilizer distribution is part of a broader agricultural support program initiated by Rep. Raji to complement the Federal government efforts. This program aims to provide farmers with essential inputs.
"And training to improve farming techniques and productivity, with the goal of enhancing food security and the local economy in Epe, " he said.
A beneficiary, Tunde Adekoya, expressed his gratitude to the lawmaker, noting that the fertilizer would significantly boost his crop production.
Also, Mr Deji Adebanji, another beneficiary, said that many farmers struggled with the high cost of agricultural inputs, and this assistance came as a timely intervention.(NAN).(www.nannews.ng).
