Speaking at the event, the Honorable Commissioner unveiled the "EMPOWER LAGOS 'Initiative. The initiative highlights the premium importance that the Governor Babajide Sanwoolu led administration placed on achieving the THEMES + Agenda, particularly in ensuring gender equality, youth empowerment and social inclusion for all Lagos State residents.
The Initiative addresses critical employment and skills gaps among individuals, small & medium-sized businesses in Lagos State, providing suitable and sustainable solutions to boost economic growth and alleviate unemployment.
The ‘EMPOWER LAGOS' initiative also is designed to create sustainable wealth for a minimum of 10,000 beneficiaries across all industries as they include; 2,000 Postgraduate, 5,000 Artisans and 3,000 SMEs, and also ensuring that each beneficiary trains at least 10 individuals resulting in a multiplier effect of more than 100,000 Lagos State residents over a period of 36 months.
Hon. Akinyemi asserted that partnership is critical for success, which is why the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment is partnering with lots of private-public bodies so as to create a supportive ecosystem for capacity development, gainful employment, and sustainable wealth creation.
The Honorable Commissioner appreciated and urged everyone to harness the power of collaboration, innovation, and shared vision to build a brighter future and he looked forward to forging strong partnerships that will drive the "EMPOWER LAGOS' Initiative forward.
Other dignitaries present were: Mr Kashifu Inuwa Abdulahi, D.G National Information Technology Development Agency, Mr Aristotle Onuwo, Director Corporate Unit and Directors from the Ministry.
