The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government,Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, was on Tuesday,July 23,2024, had a crucial and emergency meeting with all the Stakeholders in Epe,during which he updated them on Cholera outbreak, Security situation in the communities within the council;her administration's achievements so far; and warned Epe Youth not to be part of the planned protest by the Nigerian Youth against Economic hardship in the country.
While addressing the stakeholders which included, Artisans, Market Men and Women, Transport Unions,Youth Groups,Religious Leaders,Security Personnel, Traditional Chiefs,amongst others,at the Council Chamber,she admonished them to ensure cleaness in order not to get infected by Cholera,which Lagos State has the highest number of victims now.
" The governor,Mr. Babajide Olushola Sanwoolu,being very proactive,continues to take measures to curb the spread of cholera through contact tracing issuing of health alert,guides and advisory,which has prompted this Stakeholders' Meeting for deliberation on the way forward" she said.
" Indeed,we must act swiftly to improve water and environmental sanitation,improve hygiene and increase awareness on dangers of open defecation. On our part,my administration has put in place measures at the LGA to include: Heigthened Cholera alert/awareness/sensitization; Provision of Chlorine to communities with public water; Clearing of drainages and waste/refuse;and Distribution of ORS to all the school children" She added.
She urged Epe residents to drink clean portable water,always wash their hands with Soap and water during and after preparing food and seeking early care when one notices signs of diarrhea.
