Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID), Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA has called on residents of the LCDA to make it a point of duty to maintain public infrastructure so as to stand the test of time.
The Chairman made this call on Thursday 11th July 2024 while addressing some residents during an inspection tour of the Council's projects.
The chairman alongside executive members visited 10 projects sites of which construction is ongoing.
At Anifowose Street, Abule Egba where the construction of two sided drainages is ongoing the Chairman was pleased with the state and quality of work done by the contractor handling the project and urged him to continue at that pace while he praised the Council Engineer Arch. Sunday Makinde for proper supervision.
While addressing the press, HID Tijani explained that after the completion of the drainages which is the first phase of the projects the the second phase will commence earnestly which will cater for the asphalting, interlocking or grading of the roads as it is applies to each of the roads.
The Council Manager of the LCDA Mr. Adeyemi Adebola appealed to the residents to pay their rates and tariffs so as to facilitate more projects.
At each of the sites, residents commended the magical touch of the council chairman on the state of the roads across all the wards, some described him as a messiah who has brought succour to residents.
Mr. Samson Olatunji Afolabi explained that the state of Ibrahim Street at New Oko-Oba was terrible before the commencement of the two sides drainage and he urged the chairman not to relent.
Mr. Ajala Olayinka Olaniran, a resident of Oyedeji Street, commended the chairman for the relief he has brought to the community through the ongoing construction of drainage and appealed for completion of the drains and speedy asphalting of the road.
Other project sites visited includes New Oko-Oba Primary School, where rehabilitation of blocks of classrooms were done and work to commence on another set of classroom blocks.
The Community Development Association Chairman of Good Will Community where the school is located Alhaji Rasaq Adewunmi could not hide his thoughts as he showered praises on the Chairman for his intervention on the school. He explained that some of the classrooms were completely dilapidated before chairman's intervention which has made learning easier for their children.
Other visited sites includes New Oko-Oba Primary School, Ibrahim Street, New Oko-Oba; Olujola Street; Abule Egba, Kuburat Agbedeyi Street, Olusegun Oladapo Street; Akinde Community; Church Street off Adeyoola Street; Musbau Oseni Street amongst others.
In all 9 two sided drainage construction sites and one rehabilitation of classroom blocks were visited.
