They emphasized the importance of education in shaping their futures and expressed gratitude for the foundational skills and values instilled during their time at the school. The event served not only as a celebration of the school's legacy but also as a reminder of the enduring bonds formed among students, highlighting the role of Epe Grammar School in fostering leadership and community engagement among its graduates.
As old students of Epe Grammar School, united and returned to the school who made them what they are in the society today,on 70th Year Anniversary of her establishment; our correspondents spoke with some of the icons of society who are products of the school. Here are their views:
ALHAJI ALADE SALIU OKULU,FORMER NATIONAL PRESIDENT,EGOSA,INTERIM SECRETARY,EGOSA'S BOARD OF TRUSTEES; 1965-1969 SET:
Whatever we might have become in life today, this is the foundation. This school made us.Whatever English we speak now, this is the foundation. If you don't speak good English while you are in Secondary School, there is possibility that your spoken English may not be good forever, because this is the foundation. Our contributions now as old students is to give back to the school.
MR. MUYIWA ODUNUGA OF 1978/1983 SET:
I could remember our Silver Jubilee, when this school turned 25th,we were in form 2 then.It was a big celebration and we had Sir Shina Peter live on stage.I was still in hostel,it was a double ration we ate that day.It was a Carnival like event ,it was A-Week-Long- Celebration. There was a lot of interesting and educative Programmes organised, such as Quiz Comeption,Debate and others; and we got gifts for our brilliant performance, then. I'm happy to be here with my mate Otunba Adewale Badejo, who still remembered that time and personally paid for Snacks that many of these students are eating today. You can see the long queue, courtesy of Otunba in support of this anniversary.I want to thank the Planning Committee of this 70th Anniversary, and all sets of old students, they have really done well ,due to infrastructural development, academic excellence in this school now; the celebration is a great improvement on the previous ones.
