In a press briefing HRM Oba Engr. Adesina Suliamon Adebowale, speaks with Lagostrend Media
The several challenges plaguing his community and Epe at large. The monarch spoke about recent events, including a fatal truck accident, power infrastructure vandalism.
Speaking on the recent truck accident at the Epe market, Hrm Oba Adeshina express deep sorrow On The Incident, “This is a tragic incident, and it is not something we should ever be happy about. I pray to God that we never witness such a thing again,” the monarch said solemnly. He admonished truck drivers to adhere to designated routes, emphasizing that pedestrian and car roads are not meant for heavy-duty vehicles and it can get faulty or loses it control at anytime, that is why they need to always follow their designated routes and not passing through a place like market located in the heart of a town, such as Aiyetoro. I sincerely express my condolences to the victims who are survivors of the fatal accident, while praying for the repose of the souls of the departed ones. As Traditional Rulers,we will continue to pray against reoccurrence of the disaster; while we urge the government to take necessary steps to ensure this disaster does not repeat itself in any part of Epe Division" The Kabiyesi urged Epe residents to remain resilient, encouraging them to “summon courage, continue their daily activities, and keep praying to God for protection.”
The monarch commended the Epe Local Government Chairman for promptly organizing a prayer session following the accident, which was attended by the Lagos State Deputy Governor. Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, was in attendance; she has done well."“Her Excellency has truly shown herself to be a dedicated traditionalist,” Oba Adeshina said. “Her deep love and support for this community are evident and deeply appreciated. He also called on law enforcement to enforce stricter measures to keep roads clear of marketers. “Marketers must stick to their designated areas. A clear road will significantly reduce the chances of such accidents recurring,” he advised.
The reality is that, there is a market, therefore, all the traders and buyers must do all their transactions inside the market, not outside or on the highway.
This is necessary to avoid the reoccurrence of that disaster. The law enforcement agencies, such as the Federal Road Safty Corps ( FRSC),Lagos State Traffic Management Authority ( LASTMA),Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officials and others, should do their job to save lives. The street trading, should be prohibited. It is not good ,because,as I said earlier on,we did not expect the disaster that occurred last Monday; that is why adequate measures must be put in place, to ensure the highway is free for free human and vehicular movement" He warned.
The issue of power supply in Epe was another point of concern. The monarch expressed disbelief upon learning that recently repaired power lines had been vandalized again. “This is unacceptable,” he stated firmly. “The community cannot keep damaging infrastructure meant to serve them. I am calling on law enforcement agencies to investigate this immediately.”
Oba Adeshina issued a stern warning regarding land disputes in the community. “I do not want to hear of land grabbers being involved in Odomola and other communities in Epe. If there is any dispute, take it to court. This is the proper way to resolve such matters,” he said, emphasizing the need for peaceful and lawful conflict resolution.
The Omola Of Odomola Kingdom. Oba Engr. Adeshina Suliamon Adebowale message was clear: Epe’s challenges can only be addressed through cooperation, discipline, and adherence to the law. As his voice resonates across the community, it carries a royal plea for calm, order, and a commitment to building a better future for Epe.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims of the tragic accident in Epe,” Oba Adeshina said. “This heartbreaking event has left an indelible impact on the Epe community, and lagos state at large.”
