Hon Princess Surah Olayemi Animashun has taken a significant step towards improving public health in Epe by providing free tuberculosis (TB) screening and treatment for residents

 

Hon Princess Surah Olayemi Animasahun the executive chairman of Epe local government  has initiated a program offering free tuberculosis (TB) screening and treatment for residents of Epe, emphasizing her unwavering commitment to improving healthcare access in the community. This initiative aims to identify and treat TB cases early, thereby reducing the disease's prevalence and ensuring that affected individuals receive the necessary medical attention. By providing these essential health services at no cost, Animasahun seeks to enhance public health awareness and encourage community members to prioritize their health, reflecting her dedication to fostering a healthier environment for all residents

Lagostrend Reported  that the First Lady of Lagos State,Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwoolu,appointed the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Aninashaun, as one of the TB Eradication Ambassadors in the State;the Chairman has taken the campaign against Tuberculosis (TB) down to her council,as she organised free TB,Hypertension and Diabetes screenings for the residents of Epe both young and old at Epe Local Government Secretariat,Itamarun,on Wednesday, November 6,2024.

While addressing the beneficiaries at the free healthcare event, Princess Surah,who first commended the state First Lady,Dr. Sanwoolu,for her dedication and commitment towards the eradication of the dreadful cough called TB;and for appointing her as one of the ambassadors to fight against the spread of the disease in Lagos State; revealed that TB must not be seen as a minor cough,but a serious danger that can lead to cancer and other terminal diseases.

She urged residents of Epe, to take the advantage of the 2-Day Screenings ,to know their status and those who are already TB patients to come for treatment. She told them that, the sreening, treatment and provision of drugs,is free of charge,in order to further make life easy for residents.

Talking about her commitment to healthcare delivery for the people she governs,She said," The well-being of our people in Epe is the first priority in my heart. Health is wealth. It is when someone is healthy that he / she can work and effectively perform his /her civic responsibility to the government ;and responsibilities to his /her family members. This is not the first time,we would be providing free medicare for our people and we are still going to do more and ensure healthy living and lifestyle amongst our people."

Dr. A. Lawanson from the Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria,joined by other health professionals sensitized 

and screened the people at the event.

The Executive Chairman,laid a good example,by partaking in the screening exercise,checking her health status and encouraging the Health Workers and beneficiaries before returning to her office.

The Medical Officer of Health,Epe Local Government, has however commended Princess Surah,for her timely free  medicare for the people of Epe. He talked about previous one organised where hundreds of residents,were not only care for medically,but were also provided with 10KG Bags of Rice,to get food on their Tables. He later advised the people of Epe,to take their health with utmost priority,not commonizing any strange occurrence in their bodies.

Many of the beneficiaries could not hold their joyful feeling,as they rained words of appreciation and prayer on Princess Animashaun and her team.
