Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has been elected as the new National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). This election took place at the Union's Zonal Secretariat along the Osogbo/Ikirun road, with delegates from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti in attendance. As the sole candidate, MC Oluomo's election was a guaranteed win, solidifying his position as the leader of the NURTW.
MC Oluomo's background is quite interesting. Born on March 14, 1975, in Oshodi, Lagos, he dropped out of school due to his father's death and went on to become a bus driver. His rise to prominence began as the head of a motor park in Oshodi, eventually becoming the chairman of the NURTW in Lagos State.
As the new National President, MC Oluomo has called for peace and unity among NURTW members, stating that he has forgiven those who offended him and hopes for forgiveness from those he may have wronged. His election is seen as a significant development, especially considering his influence in Lagos politics and his alignment with President Bola Tinubu.
It's worth noting that MC Oluomo's resignation as Lagos State chairman sparked speculation about his next moves, with some suggesting he was planning to move to the national level. His election as National President confirms these rumors, cementing his position as a key figure in the NURTW.
