NASFAT Ojota-Ogudu Branch Women Celebrate 25th Annual Women’s Week in Grand Style

 



The Women Affairs Management Committee of the NASRUL-LAHI-L-FATIH Society (NASFAT), Ojota-Ogudu Branch, joined other NASFAT women from across the globe in celebrating the 25th Annual Women’s Week. The grand finale of the week-long event was held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the NASFAT Islamic Centre, Aseese, Mowe, Ogun State.

A Week of Impactful Activities

The celebration commenced on Sunday, November 10, 2024, and featured a variety of activities, including humanitarian outreach, spiritual enlightenment, health awareness, social events, and empowerment programs. These events, aligned with the National Executive Council’s LEAD policy, were replicated across NASFAT Zones, Branches, Groups, and Outreaches both in Nigeria and the diaspora.

The grand finale brought together members from all corners of the NASFAT community, reflecting the unity and strength of the society’s women’s wing.

Governor Sanwo-Olu Commends NASFAT Women

In his goodwill message, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Ibraheem Layode, lauded the NASFAT women for their initiative. He described the annual Women’s Week as a platform for deliberation and networking to foster national growth and development.

The governor urged women to actively support environmental protection and emulate the virtuous lives of Islamic role models. He emphasized the importance of leveraging teachings from NASFAT to promote societal harmony.

Messages of Encouragement

The wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, represented by Alhaja Shakirat Baiyewu, commended the women for their relentless advocacy for citizens’ welfare. She encouraged them to sustain their zeal in propagating Islam through meaningful initiatives.

Delivering the keynote lecture, Professor Khadijat Olaniyan Shobowale of the University of Lagos highlighted the need for women to harness their God-given potentials. She emphasized the critical role women play in nurturing their families and shaping future generations.


Gratitude and Call for Support

The National Women Affairs Secretary (NWAS), Alhaja Ganiyat Omowunmi Babalola, expressed gratitude to Allah for the successful program. She reiterated that the week’s primary objective was to educate and empower women to contribute to Nigeria’s development. She appealed to governments, philanthropists, and spouses to provide continuous support for women, boosting their morale and enabling them to make impactful contributions to society.

Celebrating Women’s Contributions

Imam Abdul-Azeez Maruf Onike, the Chief Missioner of NASFAT, praised the women for their dedication and prayed for the society’s continued success. Similarly, Oloye Remi Babalola, Secretary to the Board of Trustees, urged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the week to better their lives and communities.

Theme: “Harnessing Potentials of Muslim Women as Catalysts for Societal Safety and Economic Development”


Branch Women Affairs Secretary, Ojota-Ogudu, Alhaja Seriki Seriat, emphasized the significance of the theme, calling on women to embody their roles as mothers and role models. She urged them to draw from the lessons of the week to enhance their families and society.

The grand finale was graced by esteemed personalities, including NASFAT President Alhaji Ayodeji Abdul-Waheed Abdul-Rauf, Deputy Chief Missioner Imam Abdul-Lateef Bello, BOT Chairman Alhaji Dr. Olawale Olasupo, and other NASFAT leaders such as Alhaji Mustapha Alabi and Hajia Fausiat Salako-Sanni.
