The Independent National Electoral Commission has presented a certificate of return to the winner of the Ondo State governorship election, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The ceremony which took place at the INEC headquarters in Abuja has in attendance the Ondo State governor-elect who is also the incumbent governor, his deputy, the national chairman of the APC and other prominent members of the party from the state.
The electoral umpire described the just concluded Ondo State governorship election as a true reflection of the will of the people of Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa was declared winner of the election which took place on Saturday by INEC, defeating his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The incumbent governor of the Sunshine State polled 366,781 votes to defeat a former deputy governor of the state Ajayi who flew the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag. He scored 117,845 votes, more than twice lower than the APC candidate.
