Speech delivered by the Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), at the Stakeholders' Meeting on Traffic Management for Fuel Tankers and Related Vehicles along the Free Trade Zone Axis

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to this crucial stakeholders' meeting on traffic management for fuel tankers and related heavy vehicles along the Free Zone axis.

Your presence here today shows your dedication to finding solutions that will benefit not just the host community but Lagos State as a whole. I stand before you today with a profound sense of urgency and purpose. The subject of discussion today is not just an administrative concern, it is a matter that affects the safety, livelihood, and well-being of our entire community. We have gathered here today because the stakes are high, and failure to act could have severe and far-reaching consequences.

Ladies and gentlemen, the increasing number of fuel tankers and heavy vehicles using our roads is a matter of growing concern. While these vehicles are essential for economic activities, the potential risks they pose, if traffic management is not well-coordinated are serious.

Traffic congestion, road accidents, environmental hazards, and safety challenges can all threaten the well-being of our residents. We must acknowledge that these issues, if left unchecked, could result in severe consequences for our people and their means of livelihoods. Today, we are here not just to discuss problems but to discuss the way forward. We need to develop sustainable solutions that will ensure that the movement of fuel tankers and related vehicles is managed in a way that safeguards everyone.

This is a call to action for all stakeholders to contribute their expertise and resources to make our roads safer, our community stronger, and our objectives here today  fulfilled. It is only through collaborative efforts that we can hope to navigate these issues and protect our community from the potential dangers. I am confident that stakeholders' meeting like this serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue, sharing ideas, and developing strategies that can prevent future dangers and improve our community's safety and well-being.

This meeting is not just a routine gathering, it is a critical moment that calls for our collective responsibility and urgent action. We cannot afford to delay or take half measures because the lives of our people are at stake, and the future of our community depends on how we address these challenges. I urge each and everyone here today to actively participate and bring forth valuable insights, and engage with determination and purpose. Let us commit to practical conversation and solutions that will protect our roads, safeguard our families, and secure a prosperous future for generations to come.

Thank you all for being here, we look forward to a productive and successful conversation.
