On the 9th of November, 2024, the Premier Club of Epe Division organised a health-conscious lecture that was dedicated to appropriating the misbehaviour of youths and maintaining a balanced ambience for the members of the society to live and develop cooperatively.
This lecture was offered by the Chief-lecturer, Professor Bolanle Ogungbamila. It unveiled the present personalities to description to drugs with their impacts on the human system. This programme did not only address the youths involved in substance misconduct, but was also beneficial in helping others understand the behaviour of persons with substance use disorders. Such that, the latter would be able to support the addicted individual through self-control for recovery after paying strict attention to the detailed lecture of Professor Bolanle Ogungbamila.
Amongst several attendees of this community lecture stands Mr. Oluwo Akeem Durojaye, the Secretary of Epe Club who was interviewed. He said, "Drug abuse is neither a way to life nor success." He also added that the abuse of drugs is not a way that any parent would like his child to be identified because it is a negative habit amongst youths with terrible effects. Therefore, if the society would flourish, the society would never be in favour of drug abuse.
What is your advice for the other youths that are not here?
I would speak on those that are here because of the continuity of this humanitarian programme. The present youths should ensure that they share the pieces of knowledge gained here to their mates who are not present. Such that, the unavailable youths can employs these pieces of information equally.
What is the essence of Epe Club and how long has it been existing?
Epe Club is fifty years and what we are doing today is our first event to mark the anniversary. It has been a long journey because lots of clubs have been formed in Epe and most of them did not stand the threat of time. Some lasted for one or two years and folded up but for Epe Club to survive the storm and stand for fifty years; it is a serious-minded body with evidence. I am delighted to be part of the executives.
What can you say about the present executives?
We that are there now have made significant movements towards the infrastructural developments and image of the club positively. To the upcoming executives, they should continue to build on what they have been receiving from us.
With the aforementioned, the premier club of Epe Division is made up of an association of minds who are not only self-fulfilled, but are also interested in the well-being of other individuals, groups and parties. Hailing that the Epe Club aims at building a positive assembly of persons that would better both themselves and the society.
