Tragedy as Dangote Truck rams into building At Aiyetoro Market in epe lagos state (Video + Picture)



It was a heartbreaking scene in Epe this Monday morning as a Dangote Cement truck reportedly lost control due to brake failure, plowing through the bustling In Aiyetoro Market and leaving a devastating trail of casualties.

The tragedy unfolded in the early hours, taking the lives of unsuspecting market-goers, children on their way to school, and local residents.

The incident occurred as the truck descended from Ita-Opo lost control, and ultimately collided with a tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry under the traffic light at Ayetoro.


Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, unable to halt, barreled into the Ayetoro complex and market area, causing chaos and sparking safety concerns for residents and commuters. 

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, with a tow truck already working to evacuate the wrecked vehicle and clear the roadway.


As of the time of this report, authorities have implemented temporary traffic diversions to mitigate congestion and ensure safe passage. 


Lagostrend reporter, report  that the truck barreled through the busy market area, its brakes failing as it descended on shoppers and pedestrians. Graphic footage circulating online captures the grim aftermath, with emergency responders, onlookers, and road safety officials working tirelessly to pull bodies and injured victims from the wreckage.

At the time of this report, responders are still at the scene, transporting both injured and deceased individuals from the site. The exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed, but sources indicate a significant loss of life. Images from the scene show bodies being placed in emergency vehicles as families and witnesses reel in shock.

Road safety officials have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident, though preliminary reports suggest that brake failure was the primary cause. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over Epe, as families, friends, and community members mourn those lost in this unexpected tragedy. As from this report the local government officials and the The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon Princess Surah O. Animashaun FHTI, ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe are on ground to make such everything is in order
Confirming the casualties, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Taofeeq Adebayo, disclosed that the deceased bodies have been recovered and transferred to the Epe General Hospital.

He said: “A harrowing incident unfolded today at Ayeyoro, Epe, leading to the tragic demise of three individuals. 

“The calamity involved a Dangote truck (DCG-TM-028), which experienced a critical brake failure while descending from Ita-Opo. 

“The out-of-control truck collided with a commercial tricycle popularly called Keke with number plate AGL 442 QC and a stationary Toyota Camry at the Ayeyoro traffic light before veering into the Ayetoro Market Complex in Epe.

“The unfortunate collision resulted in the fatalities of the tricycle driver and two students from Manpower Technical School”.

Earlier, the agency had released an 11-second video released by the agency, LASTMA officials were seen managing the traffic that may arise over the accident.

The agency said, “A fatal accident occurred due to a brake failure of a truck descending from Ita-Opo and hit a commercial Tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry, then also rammed into the Ayetoro Market/Complex.”

“Three lives were lost, and they’ve been taken to the morgue at Epe General Hospital.”

The agency said a tow truck was on the ground to evacuate the affected vehicles while traffic had been diverted.

Traffic has been diverted for easy vehicular movement,” the post partly reads.


Commuters have, however, been advised to avoid the Ita-Opo to Ayetoro route and instead follow the detours provided, from Ita-Opo to Shade or via the roundabout near the General Hospital.


Drivers and pedestrians are further urged to adhere to the redirected pathways to avoid further disruptions as authorities manage the situation.
