Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has been dealt a devastating double blow, losing his eldest son, Abdulwahab, in a motor accident just a day after mourning the passing of his mother, Maryam Namadi.
According to reports, Abdulwahab was involved in a fatal motor accident while driving back from Kafin Hausa to Dutse with friends. The vehicle lost control, somersaulting and leaving some of his friends injured and currently receiving treatment at the Dutse General Hospital.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Gumel, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying, "With a heavy heart, Governor Umar Namadi announces the passing of his beloved son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi. The 24-year-old departed this world on Thursday, December 26, 2024, due to a ghastly motor accident along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road".
The burial rites for Abdulwahab are currently underway in Kafin Hausa town, in accordance with Islamic traditions. This tragic loss comes as a shock to the people of Jigawa State, who are still reeling from the news of the governor's mother's passing just a day ago.
