He expressed gratitude to the members of the Board of Trustees (BOT), the National Executive Committee (NEC), fellow alumni, distinguished guests, and all attendees. Dr. Odekunle emphasized that the conference symbolizes the enduring legacy of the alma mater and the unbreakable bond among alumni. He highlighted the event as not just an annual meeting but a meaningful homecoming—a time to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate the profound experiences shared within the school’s hallowed walls.
Hon. Fasiu Adewale Bakene, the Global President of NUDGOSA, delivered the opening remarks and formally declared the conference open. His speech underscored the association’s commitment to fostering unity and driving impactful initiatives.
Representing the BOT Chairman, Chief Niyi Lasaki, Prince Riliwan Adedotun Ogunwolu conveyed a message of encouragement and progress. He commended the synergy between the National Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees, which has resulted in remarkable achievements.
Of particular note was the exceptional effort of Engineer Adeniyi Akanni, who single-handedly funded the construction of a magnificent two-story solar-powered classroom block, complete with staff rooms and solar-powered boreholes to serve the water needs of the school community.
Additionally, the New UK Chapter was lauded for their generosity in building a 50-bed girls’ hostel. Another anonymous NUDGOSA member collaborated with the UK Chapter to complete the project, an act of immense selflessness and dedication.
The association also celebrated the inauguration of the Ibadan Chapter, urging its members to remain steadfast in contributing to the shared vision of making the alma mater a school of first choice. Prince Ogunwolu encouraged all alumni to renew their commitment to the collective mission and prepare to answer future calls for support, whether individually or collectively.
The conference was graced by several notable personalities, including former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji Isola; a representative of the New UK Chapter, Mustapha Giwa Oladosu; and Alhaji Waheed Badru.
