The National President of the National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS) has strongly condemned the recent statement made by the Minister for Youth Affairs regarding Seyi Tinubu's qualifications to govern Lagos State. The President emphasized that Lagos State boasts a vibrant and capable youth population, many of whom are more than fit to take on the mantle of leadership within the state.
In his address, the President highlighted that while Seyi Tinubu's contributions and good work might be recognized and appreciated by other states, offering him a mandate to govern Lagos State is unacceptable.
We know as a fact that Mr Seyi Tinubu as much mouthed is not from any of the divisions in Lagos State. Mr Seyi can’t lay claim to either Epe, Badagry, Lagos Division, Ikeja or Ikorodu division of Lagos State. To state it clearly, Mr Seyi Tinubu is not from Lagos State. He stressed that Lagosians have a deep sense of pride in their heritage and governance, and it is crucial that the leadership reflects the true indigenes of the state.
Furthermore, the President pointed out that Lagos State has a rich pool of talented and dynamic youths who are well-prepared and eager to lead. He called for the recognition and empowerment of these local youths, ensuring that the future leadership of Lagos State remains in the hands of those who truly understand and represent the interests and aspirations of its people.
In conclusion, the National President of NULASS(Hafiz Olufowobi) reiterated the importance of maintaining the integrity and identity of Lagos State's governance and urged all stakeholders to support the local youth in their quest for leadership and development.
