Epe(Lagos State), March 14, 2022(NAN) Okegun-Museyo community, in Ibeju-lekki, Lagos state, have cried out to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to save the community from land grabbers.

They made the plea during a peaceful protest organised in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, on Sunday.

Chief Mayowa Komolofe, a member of Museyo family, said that the community has been in existence since the past several years.

According to him, the Museyo community lands was not under government acquisition not until recently that, the issue of government accession ensued.

“We have all the required documents to show the claims of our community lands except for C of O and other government certificates.

“The community has been working tirelessly to get all the other government necessary documents to take total ownership of the land through government approval/authentication, ” he said.

Komolafe appealed to the Lagos state government to come to the aide of the community from land grabbers.

Mr Kolawole Gabriel-Ojo, a resident, said that, he has been living in the community in the last 12years without any flaw.

“But, since the last few weeks now, the community have been facing lots of challenges with the land grabbers and some alleged government officials, specifically New town Development Authority NTDA ” he said.

He said that recently, a company named DPK homes and properties allegedly invaded Museyo community with some government security agencies to threaten the residents to relocate their properties from the land.

“According to some underneath information, the DPK company said that they have acquisition of 300 hectares of lands in the community which is not true.

Gabriel-Ojo recalled that recently, DPK company in backing with some government security agencies allegedly encroached into Museyo lands and fence round some acres of land and took possession as owners.

Also, Adedeji Adeagbo, Chairman, Community Development Association(CDA), said that several house owners are in trauma, and facing a lot of depression due to the recent development.

“Some houses have been demolished, some passerby roads blocked and some houses have been completely fenced off, thereby, denying owners access to their building, he said.

He added that Museyo community lands are under regularization processes with the government. The chatting information of the lands are duly signed by Lagos state government.

Earlier, Mr Oluwasegun Sanni-Falilu, a Traditional ruler at Museyo community, in Ibeju Lekki, said that the over 256 hectares of lands are under government acquisition but uncommitted and the people are in the regularization process with the state government

“The lands are in regularization process with government therefore, the DPK homes and properties company should evacuate the community land.

“I also appeal to some people parading themselves as officials of New Town Development Authority NTDA to desist from this act as it is unruly and uncalled for.

“We have written several letters to Lagos state government but to no avail, ” he said.

He added that two years ago, government places Museyo community under Aiyetoro scheme which we have not complained about the development.

“Although, we are not pleased with it but we have no choice than to accept it.

“But, recently we saw some houses marked for demolition which astonishes us in the community.

“We are over 2,000 residents living in the community and we are law abiding citizens, ” he said.

Sanni-Falilu urged the Lagos state government to find lasting solution before the situation gets out of control.(www.nannews.ng).
