The peaceful town of Poka was filled with joy and grandeur as dignitaries, royal fathers, and well-wishers gathered to honour His Royal Majesty, Oba Ayodele Kolawole Aliyu, the Alade Uraka of Poka Land.
Lagostrend reports that the celebratory event was graced by notable personalities including Lady Doja Otedola, Hon. Wale Raji, HRM Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja (JP), the Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija, HRM Oba Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo (JP), the Alara of Ilara, and other traditional rulers across Epe Division
The ceremony was a symbolic show of cultural pride, community unity, and royal affection. It featured traditional performances, goodwill speeches, and heartfelt tributes to a monarch who has consistently promoted peace and progress in his domain.
The Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, led a special prayer session for Oba Ayodele, alongside other royal fathers present. With hands joined and hearts united, the monarchs prayed for long life, wisdom, and a reign of continuous development for the Alade Uraka.
In his remarks, Oba Ogunlaja described the celebrant as a man of wisdom and humility.
“Oba Ayodele is a leader who listens and serves his people with sincerity. His humility stands out, and his passion for the growth of Poka is evident in all he does. Today, we are not just celebrating a king, but a father to all,” he said.
The cake-cutting ceremony was led by the Alara of Ilara, HRM Oba Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, supported by other monarchs, symbolizing unity among traditional institutions and a collective blessing for the future of Poka land.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Wale Raji, the member representing Epe Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, commended Oba Ayodele for his peaceful leadership.
He took the moment to highlight developmental projects he has facilitated in Poka and beyond.
“I am happy to join in honouring Kabiyesi today. Under my representation, we have completed the first phase of the Pobo Market, and by Monday, the second phase will begin.
We have also built a block of 12 classrooms at Pobona Secondary School to support learning,” he said.
Hon. Raji also announced that construction will soon begin on the Poka Palace Road, a key infrastructure project to support mobility and commerce in the area.
He emphasized his dedication to balanced development across the constituency:
“As your representative, I have ensured that no area is left behind. Every part of Epe Federal Constituency has benefited from federal presence—Epe, Eredo, Ikosi-Ejinrin, and Agbowa have all been touched through meaningful projects.”
The lawmaker also revealed that the Ayetoro Market, Pobo Market, and Mowowale Market in Agbowa will be commissioned on the same day, signifying a major step in grassroots economic revitalization.
Lady Doja Otedola praised the monarch for his humility and people-focused leadership.
“Kabiyesi is a king who lives for his people. His reign has brought peace and stability to Poka, and I am proud to be part of this beautiful moment,” she said.
In an emotional address, Oba Ayodele Kolawole Aliyu thanked the dignitaries and people of Poka for their love and support.
This day is a testimony of God’s grace and the love of my people. I am deeply grateful and committed to continue serving Poka with all my heart,” the monarch said.
The celebration ended with singing, dancing, and traditional blessings, as the people of Poka rejoiced in honouring a monarch who remains close to their hearts and firm in his dedication to their well-being.
