Following the passing of her father, former Oyo State Governor Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, on Sunday, April 6, Kemi Olunloyo has publicly stated that she is not accepting condolences and has distanced herself from the family.
The controversial media personality made her position known through a Facebook post on Wednesday, where she revealed personal issues and unresolved tensions within the Olunloyo family leading up to her father’s death.
“I’m uploading video statements on my father’s death on TikTok,” she wrote. “I am NOT part of the Olunloyo family anymore, and I told you in 2024 that I would never return to Nigeria, even if my parents died.”
In a video posted shortly after, Kemi elaborated on the strained family dynamics, laying blame on her late father for allegedly causing longstanding division and emotional trauma.
“I am not accepting anybody’s condolences because I am not condoling with anybody,” she said. “If you want to offer condolences, go to Facebook.com/omololuolunloyo.”
While Kemi noted that she had forgiven her father, she emphasized that the public did not understand the complexities of their family life. “My father, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, was two different people,” she claimed. “He was one person to the world and another entirely at home. He destroyed our family unity emotionally and physically. He tortured us as kids.”
She also addressed the public perception that she was her father’s “favourite daughter,” claiming instead that she felt exploited. “He used me for a lot of things. He took advantage of my positive energy,” she said, suggesting her image had been manipulated for public goodwill.
Kemi further alleged that her father practiced occultism and was deeply involved in juju rituals, which she claimed led to a turning point in their relationship. “I called him out on his 80th birthday,” she stated. “After that, he went to Pastor E.A. Adeboye and became born-again.”
A significant source of discord, according to Kemi, was her father’s marriage to Ronke Sonaike, who later became known as Aderonke Olunloyo. She recounted that tensions escalated within the family after Ronke became pregnant, an event she said deeply upset her mother.
“My mother married an intellectual a man with a Ph.D. at 26, who eventually became a polygamist,” Kemi said. “Not that polygamists are bad, but the way it happened to our family was damaging.”
She recalled painful memories of conflicts tied to Ronke’s presence in the household, claiming that her father became more deeply involved in occult activities during that period. She also accused Ronke of attempting to poison her mother, an incident that allegedly led to her mother’s hospitalization.
Kemi cited a disturbing episode involving a miniature coffin allegedly found under Ronke’s son’s bed, which was followed by accusations from Ronke that Kemi’s mother had planted it there.
In her closing remarks, Kemi shared that she had no contact with her stepmother and revealed that according to her older sister, their father became increasingly inaccessible in his final years. “After his stroke in 2021, nobody had access to Daddy. They couldn’t even talk to him on the phone because Ronke blocked everyone off.”
Kemi’s statements have stirred conversation online, drawing both sympathy and criticism as she continues to speak openly about her family’s troubled history.
