The Nigerian Navy’s Ship BEECROFT has successfully arrested 27 suspected drug peddlers in a raid on a criminal hideout in Gidan Drama, Apapa, Lagos State. The operation, carried out on April 5, 2025, resulted in the seizure of various illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, Canadian loud, tramadol, and cough syrup with codeine.
The 27 suspects, comprising 24 males and 3 females, were apprehended during the raid. The seized substances were confiscated and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on April 9, 2025, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Nigerian Navy’s efforts demonstrate its commitment to combating the spread of illicit drugs, which pose a significant threat to national security and public health. The NDLEA has praised the Navy’s proactive approach, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling the menace of substance abuse.
The Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT stated that the successful conduct of the operation underscores the Navy’s unwavering commitment to curtailing the spread of illicit drugs among youth, which adversely affects their health and threatens national security. The State Commander of the NDLEA, Lagos Strategic Command, Abubakar Wale, appreciated the Navy’s efforts and looked forward to more arrests to facilitate prosecution.
