PUBLIC STATEMENT : Preserve Our Party’s Integrity: Say No to Backdoor Endorsements in Lagos State APC Primaries

As a loyal and concerned member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), I find it imperative to address disturbing trends that threaten the integrity and internal democracy of our party at the state level.

Credible reports and widespread speculations within party circles suggest that a number of first-term local government chairmen may be receiving undue favoritism in their bid for automatic return tickets—reportedly under the guise of directives from our revered national leader and President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This development, if true, is both troubling and demoralizing.

Only recently, the same APC State Chairman publicly assured all aspirants of a level playing field—a promise that encouraged many capable and grassroots-rooted party faithfuls to obtain nomination forms and prepare for the primaries in good faith.

However, recent developments point to a deviation from that promise, raising serious concerns about transparency, fairness, and the future unity of our great party.

Let it be clear: any form of imposition or backdoor endorsement risks breeding division, suppressing merit, and repeating the avoidable mistakes that weakened our electoral fortunes in the past. It undermines the democratic values that President Tinubu has consistently championed throughout his political journey.

We therefore call on Mr. President, as the moral compass and national leader of our party, to intervene swiftly and ensure that the process remains free, fair, and credible. The APC must not become a platform for selective privilege at the expense of broader party interest.

Let merit, credibility, and popular support be the deciding factors—not internal manipulation or unofficial endorsements.

This is a passionate appeal for justice, fairness, and the future of our party. We must uphold the principles that brought us this far—and not destroy from within what we have worked so hard to build.
