Barrister Deji Adeyanju, lawyer to social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has raised concerns over the delay in his client’s release despite the announcement that he has been granted bail.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, Adeyanju claimed that while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has publicly stated that VDM has been granted bail, his legal team has yet to receive any official bail documents from the commission.
“Bail granted VDM, social media bail as we are yet to receive any bail document from the commission. We have made several repeated demands in this regard since yesterday that we were informed about the decision to grant bail,” Adeyanju wrote.
His statement suggests that while the EFCC has made the announcement, the legal processes required for VDM’s release have not been completed, raising concerns about possible administrative delays.
As of the time of this report, the EFCC has not responded to the lawyer’s claims.
