A Heartfelt Message of Sympathy and Assurance from Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI
It was with rude shock and profound sadness that I received the devastating news of the tragic incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning, involving the alleged shooting of a young boy, Michael, by a member of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Mr. Agbomeji Idowu.
As a mother, and as the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, my heart is heavy. The pain of losing a child in such a sudden and violent manner is unimaginable. My thoughts and prayers are firmly with the bereaved family during this dark and difficult time. I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy, and I pray that the Almighty grants them the strength and grace to endure this irreparable loss.
I strongly appeal to the family, and to all sons and daughters of Epe, to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands. I understand the anger and heartbreak this tragedy has caused, but I urge us all to allow the appropriate security and investigative authorities to carry out their duties without interference. The matter is currently under serious investigation, and I assure you that no stone will be left unturned in the pursuit of justice.
Let it be known that Epe is a community rooted in peace, dignity, and mutual respect. In the face of grief, let us not abandon these values. Violence or retaliation will only deepen the pain and disrupt the harmony we have worked so hard to build.
I also call on the good people of Epe to remain vigilant and to ignore any form of misleading information or incitement being circulated to provoke unrest or anarchy. This is not the time for propaganda or divisive narratives. Let us stay focused on the facts and trust in the institutions responsible for ensuring justice is served.
As your Chairman, I want to reassure everyone that we are in close communication with law enforcement agencies, and the situation is fully under control. Justice will be pursued diligently, and we will continue to monitor developments until a fair resolution is achieved.
May the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace, and may healing and comfort return swiftly to the hearts of the grieving. Together, let us stand strong, remain united, and trust in the process of justice.
