The Epe Ogunmodede Club deeply mourns the passing of our revered royal father, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Shefiu Adewale Bamgbopa, Eshilokun I, the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, who joined his ancestors on Saturday, May 31st, 2025.
This painful loss has left a deep void in the hearts of the Epe people and indeed the entire Lagos State traditional institution. Late Oba Adewale was not just a custodian of culture and tradition but a symbol of unity, wisdom, and progressive leadership. His legacies will forever remain etched in the annals of our history. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Epe traditional council, and all sons and daughters of Epe at home and in the diaspora.
In light of recent developments, the Epe Ogunmodede Club unequivocally dissociates itself from the purported installation of the Olu-Epe-Elect which saw the emergence of High Chief Kadri Odedeogboro and Chief Jide Ikuforiji that reportedly took place at the First Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, on Monday, June 2nd, 2025.
The Club views this action as premature and potentially disruptive to the peace and order of our beloved community.
As a longstanding indigenous association committed to peace, development, and the general wellbeing of the Epe Kingdom,we urge all concerned stakeholders to exercise restraint and remain calm while the appropriate authorities, including the traditional and governmental institutions, engage with the issues at hand through due process.
In this sacred season of Eid-il-Kabir, we call on all indigenes of Epe, regardless of age, status, or allegiance, to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, unity, and patience for the greater good of our community. The bonds that hold us together as one people must not be weakened by the heat of division or haste.
The peaceful coexistence of families and the continued harmony of our town remain the core priorities of the Epe Ogunmodede Club. We trust that the forthcoming Ileya Festival will be a time of reflection, healing, and reconciliation, ushering in a renewed atmosphere of peace and progress for our dear Epe.
We pray for a safe, joyous, and successful Eid celebration for every household across the length and breadth of Epe Kingdom.
Signed,
Epe Ogunmodede Club Executive Council.
