Breaking News: Ojora of Ijora Dethrones Six Palace Chiefs for Attending Labour Party Campaign

In a dramatic twist within the traditional institution, the Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Oba AbdulFatai Aromire Oyegbemi, has dethroned six palace chiefs for attending the flag-off campaign of the Labour Party in Apapa.

According to a statement from the palace, the chiefs were accused of gross misconduct, including violating palace protocol and impersonating the Oba by allegedly representing him at the political event without his knowledge or approval.

Oba Oyegbemi described their actions as “unacceptable,” stressing that no chief has the right to act on behalf of the palace at political events without explicit consent.

“The decisive action of dethroning the six Chiefs underscores Kabiyesi’s commitment to maintaining order and coherence within his leadership structure,” the statement read.

During an emergency palace assembly, the monarch used the opportunity to commend the current government for its developmental efforts in Ojora Land and pledged continued support to the administration.

“This event has reaffirmed the significance of transparency and collaboration between traditional authorities and their representation in political matters,” the palace said, reminding all chiefs of their responsibilities to the throne.

The six dethroned traditional leaders are:

Chief Lateef Ojora (Bale Alaba Oro)

Chief Saliu Biliamin (Bale Alafia Dodoro)

Chief Taiwo Hassan (Bale Oke Ira)

Chief Idris Oladipupo Ojora (Bale Abule Kere)

Chief Hakeem Oseni (Bale Mosafejo Amukoko)

Chief Sule Raji Balogun (Balogun of Abule Kere)

The development has stirred reactions across the kingdom, raising concerns about the line between traditional neutrality and political involvement.
