Lagostrend report that major political shift ahead of upcoming elections in 2027, over 2,000 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) have officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Epe, Lagos State.
The mass defection was marked by a symbolic welcome event held today in epe, where leaders of the ADC expressed confidence in the party’s growing influence across Epe Division. The defectors cited disillusionment with the leadership style and internal crises within their former parties as reasons for their move.
ADC chieftains Mr Babatunde Olanrewaju Aka Bob Tarner described the development as a “clear sign of growing trust in the party’s grassroots agenda and people-driven manifesto.”
Political observers believe the influx of new members could significantly reshape the local political dynamics as the 2027 general elections draw nearer.
Hon. Isede Juliet Jp ADC Lagos East Vice chairman described the defection as a significant boost to ADC’s grassroots presence and a potential game-changer in Epe’s political landscape.
Party leaders from ADC welcomed the defectors in a well-attended event, where the new members cited lack of internal democracy, poor leadership, and unmet promises in their former parties as reasons for the switch.
A leading defector, speaking on behalf of the group, said:
“We have realized that the future of Epe and Lagos at large lies with a party that prioritizes the people. ADC has shown us vision, structure, and sincerity.”
This development is expected to stir political recalculations across the constituency as ADC gains momentum in a zone previously dominated by APC, PDP,
and LP.
