Accra, August 6, 2025
Ghana is in mourning after Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed died in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday.
The aircraft, heading from Accra to Obuasi, went down in the Adansi Akrofuom District, killing all eight on board.

Dr. Samuel Sarpong – NDC Vice Chair
Samuel Aboagye – Former parliamentary candidate
Sqn. Leader Peter Bafemi Anala – Pilot
Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu – Co-pilot
Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah – Crew member
President John Dramani Mahama has declared national mourning and ordered an investigation. Flags will fly at half-mast nationwide.
