In a move aimed at inspiring future leaders, Akwa Ibom State governor Umo Eno appointed a young boy, Ezra Obareki, as the state’s Commissioner of Police for 24 hours. The handover ceremony in Uyo gave Ezra a unique opportunity to experience the inner workings of law enforcement and governance.
The event, attended by Ezra’s parents and key state officials, was designed to empower children and showcase their potential. Governor Eno’s initiative is widely seen as a way to motivate Ezra and other young people to aspire to leadership roles.
During his one-day tenure, Ezra gained firsthand insight into the police force’s operations. This effort aligns with the belief that “children are the leaders of tomorrow” and provides them with a valuable platform to learn from experienced policymakers.
The initiative has been praised as a powerful display of mentorship and a commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders.
