The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has ordered disciplinary action against the Ibom Air staff responsible for leaking an indecent video of Ms. Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of assaulting airline officials.
Keyamo, in a statement on Monday via his X account, condemned the public circulation of the viral clip, which showed Ms. Emmanson’s top torn, exposing her upper body. He described the release as “totally unacceptable” and “debas[ing] of womanhood,” stressing that whoever leaked it must be “singled out and adequately sanctioned.”
The incident occurred on August 10, 2025, aboard Ibom Airline Flight Q153 from Uyo to Lagos. According to Ibom Air, the confrontation began when Ms. Emmanson refused to switch off her phone during take-off, violating international aviation regulations. The situation escalated, leading to physical altercations with both flight crew and ground staff.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed an indefinite local and international flight ban on Ms. Emmanson. She was arraigned on Monday before the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court and remanded at Kirikiri Prison after failing to meet bail conditions.
While supporting the recording of her behavior as evidence for prosecution, Keyamo insisted such footage must not be released in ways that humiliate individuals. He further directed airlines to improve staff training in conflict management and pledged stricter enforcement of sanctions on passengers who breach aviation safety rules.
Lagotrend will continue to monitor the case and provide updates as more details emerge.
