Lagos State Government on Monday presented financial assistance to 15 Associations and Cluster Heads registered with Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), to support the day-to-day running and management of these homes.
The presentation, which took place on Monday at The Secretariat, Alausa-Ikeja, saw each of the benefiting homes being presented with cheques ranging from N500,000 and above by the General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal.
Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal explained that the initiative, which is a yearly gesture by the government, is a way of providing seed funding for the beneficiaries to achieve financial independence, cope with daily challenges and improve their quality of life.
“It is part of Lagos State Government’s commitment to social cohesion, ensuring that all citizens, including PWDs, have access to opportunities and support,” she stated.
The General Manager noted that LASODA currently has 100 registered Associations and Clusters since inception and has continually expanded its reach to impact more communities across Lagos State.
According to her, the 2025 edition of the programme further strengthened partnerships between LASODA and grassroots organisations, while also paving the way for deeper collaboration and lasting social impact.
Some of the beneficiaries include the Lagos State Association of the Deaf, Lupus Remedies Global Support Foundation, Albinism Association of Nigeria, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Lions’ Heart Ability Leader International Foundation, and the Dwarfs Association of Nigeria.
Others are the Dyslexia Nig Support & Learning Initiative, Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation Initiative, Anthony Kupe Foundation, Nigeria Association of the Blind, and the Association for Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities of Nigeria.
