The Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN), NURTW Agbakale Branch, Epe, Lagos State, has commenced a three-day educational support programme aimed at providing learning materials to primary school pupils across the Epe Division.
The initiative, being implemented under the leadership of the Branch Chairman, Comrade Agbaje Adebowale, is designed to support pupils, assist schools and help reduce the financial burden of educational materials on parents and families across the division.
Lagostrend reports that the three-day programme is covering 15 primary schools across Epe Local Government, Eredo LCDA and Agbowa-Ikosi LCDA, demonstrating the association’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to the educational development of children within its area of operation.

Agbaje Adebowale: Education Remains a Priority
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Comrade Agbaje Adebowale, Chairman of TOOAN NURTW Agbakale Branch, explained that the initiative was borne out of the association’s desire to support children and families while making a positive contribution to the communities where its members operate.
He stressed that the association believes strongly in the importance of education and wants to use the initiative to demonstrate that transport operators and community-based organisations can also play an active role in supporting the educational development of young people.
According to him, there are misconceptions in some quarters regarding the attitude of transport operators towards education. He therefore used the occasion to reaffirm that TOOAN NURTW Agbakale Branch values education and is committed to initiatives that promote the academic development and welfare of children in Epe Division.
He said the provision of exercise books, although modest, could make a meaningful difference to pupils and parents, particularly at a time when the cost of educational materials continues to place pressure on many families.
Appreciation to Education Stakeholders
Comrade Agbaje Adebowale also expressed appreciation to Otunba Aliu Idowu Shittu, popularly known as Saico, the Epe Federal Constituency Educational Secretary, as well as members of staff and other stakeholders for their support, encouragement and commitment to educational development in the area.
He noted that partnerships between community leaders, educational authorities, schools, associations and other stakeholders remain important in building a stronger educational foundation for children.
Headteachers Commend Initiative
The headteachers of the beneficiary schools expressed their appreciation to TOOAN NURTW Agbakale Branch for the gesture, describing the donation as timely, useful and impactful.
They noted that exercise books and other learning materials are essential to pupils’ academic activities and that the donation would help reduce the burden on parents who may struggle to provide all the necessary materials for their children.
The school authorities also commended the leadership of the Agbakale Branch for looking beyond its core transport activities to support education and community development.
Building Stronger Communities Through Education
The three-day initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between transport associations, community organisations, schools, education stakeholders and government institutions in promoting access to education and improving the welfare of pupils.
Beyond the immediate distribution of exercise books, the programme sends a broader message about the role that organised community groups can play in supporting children and strengthening the communities in which they operate.
TOOAN NURTW Agbakale Branch, Epe, has therefore reaffirmed its commitment to supporting programmes and initiatives that contribute to the welfare, education and development of children and the wider Epe Division.
The association expressed optimism that the initiative will continue to inspire other organisations, individuals and community stakeholders to support education and invest in the future of young people.
