In a major development, the Lagos State Government has announced a significant increase in boarding fees for all public secondary schools in the state.
Effective immediately, the new boarding fee has been raised from N35,000 to N100,000 per term, representing a 186% increase.
The decision was communicated in a letter signed by Olufemi Asaolu, Director of Basic Education Services at the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
According to the letter, the government has directed that no additional fees should be collected by the schools.
Parents and guardians have been informed that the resumption date for the new session remains September 15, 2024.
The increased fee is expected to affect thousands of students enrolled in public boarding schools across the state.
