LAGOS, Feb. 23 – Education District IV of Lagos State has distinguished itself as a powerhouse of academic and extracurricular excellence, securing top positions in national and international competitions. Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Segun Osinaike, the district has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in science, technology, and sports.
According to Mr. Olanrewaju L.O., Desk Officer in charge of Environment and STEM, said that the district’s impressive achievements reflect a deep commitment to quality education and innovative learning approaches.
Additionally, Mr. Akanbi Job, an outstanding award recipient of Mr Governor, who doubles as the Desk Officer in charge of Robotics, STEM and JET’S Programs reiterates the outstanding performance of Wesley Girls’ Senior Secondary School simultaneously in the Year 2023 and Y2024 Stockholm Water Prize Project in which the School present Bithermal Still Water Project and Floodwise project which won back to back in Lagos State, National and represent Nigeria twice in a row internationally at Sweden showcasing District IV excellence in STEM Education.
Moreso, Education District IV made history at the World Robots Olympiad (WRO) tagged Earth Allies where New Era Girls Junior Secondary School, Surulere came over all best in Lagos State with a total points of 120 in the history of the state and replicate the same feat at the National level where both Lagos City Senior College and New Era Girls Junior came first (1st) positions in their different categories thereby representing Lagos State internationally at Year 2024 (WRO) Turkiye.
Further solidifying its reputation, the district clinched 1st position at the 2024/2025 Lagos State School Sports Festival in the Under-15 category, proving its dominance not just in academics but also in athletics.
In the 2024 National Presidential Award, Dr. (Mrs.) Peace Sule of Akoka Junior High School was honored for her outstanding contributions to education, reinforcing the district’s culture of excellence.
Additionally, students from Gbaja Girls Senior High School won 1st place in the Brainstar Courtville STEM Quiz Competition, while Gbaja Girls Junior Secondary School and Lagos City Senior College came first in the Year 2024 Exhibition of Instructional materials by (LASFIM) Lagos State Festival of Instructional material.
Mrs. Rose, the Desk Officer for Guidance and Counselling, commended the relentless efforts of students, teachers, and administrators. She emphasized that these achievements stem from effective leadership, strategic planning, and a deep commitment to excellence in all areas of education.
Education District IV achievements are a direct reflection of the dedication and hard work of its teachers, staff, and students, who continuously strive for excellence. Their collective efforts have not only brought accolades to the district but also set a benchmark for other schools across Lagos State and beyond.
