The Senior Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on matters related to Technical and Vocational Education, Comrade Giwa Moore has lauded the Kosofe Local Government Area (LGA) Chairman, Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe for his contribution to skills development.
Moore commended the Chairman for his dedication towards improving the lives of the youth within the community through the KOSOFE Skill Hub training programme.
The initiative aims to equip young people with in-demand skills, enhancing their chances of success in the job market.
By joining the programme, participants will gain access to free training in various vocational courses to improve their skills and knowledge; thereby, enhancing their career prospects. They will also have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and industry experts.
According to Moore, this initiative aligns closely with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader vision, which aims to equip young people with essential skills for better integration into the job market.
Moore, who expressed admiration for the Chairman, emphasised that investment in skills development is vital, especially in the areas of technical and vocational education.
He said: “The goal is to prepare them for both employment opportunities and self-employment by providing high-quality technical skills training.
“Such development programmes help equip young individuals with practical skills that boost their employability. This approach encourages self-reliance and empowers youths to seek jobs or start their own businesses”.
Moore, while acknowledging the critical role skilled workers play in reducing unemployment rates, said that the Lagos State Government remains committed to promoting technical education as a strategic tool to fostering economic growth.
He added that the government is collaborating extensively with various industries; private sector, and local artisans to create more jobs and opportunities for young people in the state.
