In a move aimed at alleviating the financial burden on military personnel, the House of Representatives Committee on Finance has proposed a tax exemption on their personal income. This development comes as the committee considers four tax bills transmitted by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.
According to Abiodun Faleke, Chairman of the Committee, the proposal is in recognition of the critical nature of military assignments. The exemption is expected to provide financial relief to military personnel, who often face unique challenges due to their service.
The proposal was unanimously endorsed by the House of Representatives, and details of the exemption are expected to be released later. This move is seen as a positive step towards supporting Nigeria’s military personnel and their families.
