14 Rescued as Building Collapses in Lekki, Lagos.
Fourteen people have been pulled from the rubble after a building under construction collapsed on Oriwu Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, on Wednesday.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that the structure gave way around 4:00 PM. Emergency responders were swiftly deployed to the scene, working tirelessly to rescue those trapped.
A devastating building collapse in Lekki, Lagos, has left two people dead and 14 others injured.
The three-story structure, with a penthouse under construction, crumbled on Oriwu Street around 4 PM on Wednesday, March 5.
Emergency responders and security operatives swiftly arrived at the scene, pulling survivors from the rubble and rushing them to the hospital.
The cause of the collapse remains unknown, raising urgent concerns about building safety standards in Lagos.
Benjamin Hundeyin wrote: “Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have been mobilised to the scene of the collapse of a building under construction at Oriwu Street, Lekki Phase 1 which occurred at about 1600hrs today. “A total of 14 persons have so far been rescued and taken to Lagos Island General Hospital for treatment. “Meanwhile, operatives of the command remain on ground to provide security for the ongoing rescue operation.”

Hundeyin reported that all 14 survivors had been taken to Lagos Island General Hospital for medical care. He also assured that security operatives remain on-site to support ongoing rescue operations.
While the cause of the collapse remains unknown, authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the incident.
