Olori Bolanle Ogunsanwo Foundation Empowers 300, Offers Free Medical Outreach at 5th Coronation Anniversary in Ilara Kingdom

Ilara Kingdom, Nigeria – August 15, 2025 – The Olori Bolanle Ogunsanwo Foundation marked the 5th coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, with a grand empowerment program and free medical outreach that impacted over 300 residents of the kingdom.

Lagostrend reports that the distribution of sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers, and other tools took place during the first day of events marking the monarch’s 5th coronation anniversary in Ilara, Epe Division

The celebratory event, held at the palace grounds, brought together dignitaries, community leaders, health professionals, and beneficiaries from across Epe Division and beyond. In a powerful show of commitment to human capital development, the Foundation empowered 300 individuals—primarily women and youth—with tools, resources, and financial support to boost small businesses and vocational trades.

In addition to economic empowerment, the Foundation partnered with a team of medical professionals to provide comprehensive free healthcare services to the local population. Services rendered included general health check-ups, dental care, eye screening, distribution of prescription glasses, and provision of essential medications—all at no cost to recipients.

Speaking at the event, Olori Bolanle Ogunsanwo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve his people and reaffirmed his commitment to community development. “It is not just about celebrating a milestone,” the monarch stated. “It is about using every opportunity to uplift the lives of my people and invest in their future. Our kingdom can only grow stronger when the people are healthy and economically empowered.”

Beneficiaries praised the initiative, with many describing it as life-changing. A visibly moved local trader, Mrs. Kehinde Balogun, who received equipment to expand her tailoring business, said, “This is more than a gift; it is hope for my family.”

The anniversary celebration also featured cultural performances, traditional displays, and tributes to the Alara’s visionary leadership over the past five years.

The Olori Bolanle Ogunsanwo Foundation continues to play a pivotal role in community development across Ilara Kingdom, focusing on health, education, and economic empowerment. With this latest outreach, the Foundation has further cemented its place as a beacon of hope and transformation in the region.

The initiative, facilitated by Olori Bolanle Ogunsanwo in collaboration with the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and a non-governmental organisation, aimed to provide sustainable means of livelihood for the beneficiaries.

Oba Ogunsanwo urged the recipients to use the items judiciously, saying, “No fewer than 300 residents and indigenes benefitted from the empowerment programme.

My advice is for them to make the best use of the equipment for self-sustenance.”

As part of the anniversary programme, over 300 people also benefitted from a free medical outreach organised by the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR).

NIMR’s Director-General, Prof. John Obafunwa, said the outreach included free eye tests and glasses, dental care, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, and the distribution of drugs.

“This medical initiative was designed to ensure our people are physically and medically fit. With my background in both education and medicine, it is my duty to give back to my community,” Obafunwa stated.

The day’s activities began with a community fitness walk, followed by Jumat prayers and courtesy visits to the palace.

The celebrations will continue on Saturday, Aug. 16, with the conferment of chieftaincy titles on notable personalities.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the initiatives. Mrs. Fatimah Agbomeji, who received free eye glasses, said she was relieved after enduring vision problems, while Mr. Jamiu Adekoya thanked the organisers for providing him with free dental treatment
