The Progressive Forum, Ibadan (TPFI), has warmly congratulated the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, on his appointment as the Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary of TPFI, Prince Kola Adelakin, the Forum’s Chairman, Mr. Tunji Oladejo, described Oba Ladoja’s emergence as a fitting recognition of his dedication to service, wealth of experience, wisdom, and outstanding leadership qualities.

Mr. Oladejo noted that Oba Ladoja’s distinguished career as a seasoned statesman and former Governor of Oyo State positions him well to provide purposeful leadership for the Council. According to him, the Forum is confident that the new Chairman will promote unity, peace, and sustainable development across the state.

“As a respected traditional ruler with a strong democratic background, we have no doubt that Your Imperial Majesty will excel in this role and help strengthen cooperation among traditional institutions for the overall progress of Oyo State,” the statement read.

The Forum further expressed optimism that Oba Ladoja’s vision, experience, and deep understanding of governance will translate into meaningful contributions that will enhance harmony and prosperity for all residents of the state.

TPFI also pledged its full support to the Olubadan in the discharge of his duties, assuring him of the Forum’s readiness to collaborate in initiatives that advance peace, cultural heritage, and socio-economic development in Oyo State.

It will be recalled that the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, 15 January 2026, inaugurated the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, appointed as Chairman for a two-year term.

The inauguration follows the introduction of a rotational leadership system through the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs (Further Amendments) Bill, 2025, a move designed to foster unity, inclusiveness, and cooperation among traditional rulers across the state.

TPFI commended the Oyo State Government for this progressive step and expressed confidence that the new Council, under Oba Ladoja’s chairmanship, will usher in a new era of strengthened traditional institutions and collective development in Oyo State.
