The Palace of the Arujale-Ojime of Okeluse Kingdom has issued a firm and clarifying statement reaffirming the dignity of the throne and the respect due to the person of His Royal Majesty, Oba Oloyede Adekoya Akinghare II.

In the statement released on Thursday, January 22, 2026, and signed by the Chief of Staff to the Monarch, Prince Adefemi Olorunfemi, the Palace expressed concern over the increasing use of inappropriate and demeaning expressions such as “bro,” “blood,” and similar informal terms when addressing the revered monarch.

The Palace emphasized that His Royal Majesty must be addressed strictly by his full royal title at all times, irrespective of the speaker’s age, status, or position in society. Going forward, any form of disrespectful address will no longer be tolerated and will attract strong and decisive measures.

Oba Oloyede Adekoya Akinghare II ascended the throne in 2020 at the age of 16, following the passing of his father, thereby becoming the youngest reigning monarch in Yoruba land. Despite his youthful age, His Royal Majesty has continued to uphold the values, customs, and responsibilities of the throne with grace and maturity. He completed his secondary education in 2022, further demonstrating his commitment to personal growth and leadership.

The Palace noted that youthfulness does not diminish royal authority, stressing that the sanctity of the Yoruba traditional institution must be preserved and respected at all times.

“This warning is not merely corrective,” the statement concluded, “but a reaffirmation of the enduring values of respect, culture, and tradition upon which Okeluse Kingdom and Yoruba land at large are built.”

The Palace calls on members of the public to join in upholding the honour of the throne and fostering a culture of respect for traditional institutions across the nation.

    Signed:
    Prince Adefemi Olorunfemi
Chief of Staff to His Royal Majesty
Arujale-Ojime of Okeluse Kingdom, Ondo State
