The wife of the Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mrs. Ramat Bola Kasali, has reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots development with the successful hosting of an empowerment programme for women, youths, and small-scale business owners within the council area.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Kasali explained that the initiative was conceived to promote self-reliance, economic inclusion, and improved livelihoods among residents. She stressed that true empowerment goes beyond the distribution of materials, describing it as a deliberate effort to create opportunities, strengthen families, and build a sustainable future for the Lekki community.
According to her, empowering women and youths remains a critical pathway to economic growth and social stability, as it equips beneficiaries with the tools and confidence needed to become productive contributors to society.
As part of the programme, a wide range of income-generating items were distributed to beneficiaries, including sewing machines, grinding machines, popcorn machines, barbing kits with generators, makeup kits, hairdressing kits, soap-making chemicals, and Point-of-Sale (POS) machines.
Mrs. Kasali expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), for his consistent encouragement and support, noting that the empowerment initiative was powered by his administration’s people-centred development agenda.
She also thanked party leaders, the Vice Chairman, councillors, members of the council management led by Otunba Olayiwola Giwa, as well as other political stakeholders, for their cooperation and collective commitment to the success of the programme.
The empowerment programme was widely applauded by beneficiaries and community members as another significant step toward inclusive development and economic prosperity in Lekki LCDA.
