The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mushin Local Government Area Chapter, Lagos State, on Friday, 13th February 2026, held a highly successful and well-attended General Assembly, marking a significant milestone in the party’s consolidation efforts within the local government.

Despite reported challenges and political pressures since the coalition of progressive-minded politicians across Nigeria last year, party leaders and members gathered in high spirits, demonstrating resilience, unity, and unwavering commitment to strengthening the ADC structure in Mushin.

The meeting focused on key issues affecting the party’s growth and internal harmony, particularly matters relating to internal groups and tendencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), and strategies to enhance active member participation. Deliberations centred on boosting grassroots engagement and outlining practical steps to accelerate the party’s progress ahead of forthcoming elections.

In his address, the LGA Chairman, Hon. Bolaji Lawrence Akinfenwa, charged members to remain steadfast and not be distracted by external pressures. He encouraged them to continue spreading the party’s message to neighbours, co-workers, friends, and family members. He further assured members that the ADC remains a party founded on solid principles of fairness, justice, and inclusivity, stressing that no member would face discrimination based on tribe or religion.

The State Youth Leader, Comrade Oba, who represented the State Executive, addressed questions regarding internal groups and caucuses. He clarified that irrespective of various interest groups within the party, the INEC- and party-recognised LGA Chairman remains Hon. Bolaji Akinfenwa. He emphasised that meetings held by groups or caucuses are aimed at strengthening the party and are not in contention with the constituted authority.

The Assembly also witnessed notable political declarations. Hon. Israel Oladipupo Ogunleye (popularly known as Ladispeaks), who was physically present, and Hon. (Prof.) Ephraim Nwoye, who sent representatives due to his absence from the country, both formally declared their intentions to contest for the Federal House of Representatives, Mushin Constituency II, in the forthcoming elections. Their declarations were received with enthusiasm by members.

Ward Chairmen across Mushin LGA presented encouraging reports from their respective wards, reflecting growing support and sustained mobilisation efforts at the grassroots level.

The General Assembly concluded successfully, with members departing peacefully and safely, further reinforcing the spirit of unity and discipline that characterised the gathering.

The ADC Mushin LGA Chapter remains committed to deepening democratic participation, strengthening internal cohesion, and positioning the party for greater electoral success in Lagos State.
