APC Uploads 13 Governorship Candidates’ Details to INEC Portal, Targets August 8 Deadline

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has uploaded the nomination details of 13 governorship candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) candidate nomination portal as part of efforts to meet the commission’s August 8, 2026 deadline. A senior APC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak publicly, revealed that the party has yet to upload the list of its State House of Assembly candidates due to technical issues affecting the INEC portal. Speaking exclusively to Lagostrend correspondent, APC National Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, expressed confidence that the party would complete the submission process within the stipulated timeframe. He also assured members that the party’s reconciliation committee was actively addressing concerns arising from the emergence of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections. In line with INEC’s electoral timetable, political parties had earlier submitted the nomination forms of their presidential and National Assembly candidates between June 27 and July 14, 2026. The submissions included Forms EC9 and EC9A to EC9E, as required under Section 29(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026. For governorship and State House of Assembly elections, INEC fixed the submission period from July 18 to August 8, 2026. The commission is expected to publish the personal particulars of presidential and National Assembly candidates on August 8, while those of governorship and State House of Assembly candidates will be published on August 29. According to the APC source, the party’s ICT department has successfully uploaded the nomination details of 13 governorship candidates, with five additional nominations currently being processed. Among those already uploaded are Dr. Obafemi Hamzat (Lagos), Solomon Adeola (Ogun), Umar Bago (Niger), Ahmed Wadada (Nasarawa), Yakubu Danladi (Kwara), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Ahmed Galadima (Adamawa), and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau). The source disclosed that the party remains optimistic about uploading the nomination details of all 28 governorship candidates and their running mates before the August 8 deadline. He added that while the State House of Assembly candidates’ nominations have not yet been uploaded due to technical challenges, all necessary documents have already been scanned and are ready for submission once the INEC portal issues are resolved. Meanwhile, Bala Ibrahim urged all APC candidates to remain loyal to the party’s ideals and campaign on the Renewed Hope agenda. According to him, the party expects its candidates to promote policies that will improve the lives of Nigerians, deliver democratic dividends, and contribute to national development. He further assured party members that the reconciliation committee would continue engaging aggrieved stakeholders to resolve internal disputes and strengthen party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
