Wike: I Would Have Delivered Osun for Tinubu If He Wanted It

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he would have worked to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Osun State governorship election if the President had wanted his intervention.
Wike made the assertion while speaking on the political developments surrounding the Osun election, stressing that his political influence and network could have been deployed to achieve the desired outcome.
According to him, there was little the state government could have done to prevent such an effort if he had been given the mandate and resources to pursue the objective.
The FCT Minister’s comments have generated fresh discussions within political circles, particularly over the role of political leaders, party structures and strategic mobilisation in determining electoral outcomes.
Wike, a prominent political figure and former Governor of Rivers State, has consistently advocated for political organisation, grassroots mobilisation and strategic engagement as important factors in winning elections.
His latest statement is expected to further fuel conversations within the political space as parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Political observers say the development underscores the importance of internal party cohesion, effective grassroots structures and strong coordination among political stakeholders ahead of future electoral contests.
The Minister’s position also highlights the significance of understanding electoral dynamics and learning from recent elections as political parties reposition themselves for the challenges ahead.
