Former Super Falcons captain and Nigerian football icon, Onome Ebi, has opened up about her personal life, stating clearly and confidently that she is not in a rush to get married, as she has not yet met the kind of partner she desires.
In a recent interview, the highly respected defender addressed questions about her relationship status and how she handles admirers.
“That sounds funny,” Ebi said with a laugh. “I’m the type of person who sticks to what I want. It’s not as if I’m declining men, but the truth is that I haven’t seen the kind of person I want.”
She explained that while many people feel pressured to settle due to age or societal expectations, she believes marriage is a lifelong commitment that deserves careful consideration.
“Although many ladies can’t find a perfect person these days and often settle for someone who suits them, I don’t think I’ve come across the person I want to spend the rest of my life with,” she added.
Onome Ebi, who will turn 43 in May, remains an inspiration both on and off the pitch. Known for her discipline, longevity, and leadership in Nigerian football, her stance reflects self-awareness, patience, and the courage to live life on her own terms.
Her honest remarks have sparked conversations across social media, with many applauding her confidence and refusal to bow to societal pressure—while others jokingly encouraged eligible admirers to “shoot their shot.”
Above all, Ebi’s message is clear: fulfillment comes from authenticity, not timelines. Whether in football or in life, she continues to lead by example—strong, focused, and unapologetically herself.
