Renowned author and public affairs commentator, Reno Omokri, has strongly condemned what he described as disturbing political rhetoric and alleged security breaches linked to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai.

In a widely circulated statement, Omokri questioned recent comments attributed to el-Rufai regarding unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. He expressed concern over what he characterized as reckless political bravado, warning that such statements could undermine public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

Highlighting the importance of electoral integrity, Omokri stressed that systems like the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IREV) and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) must remain secure and tamper-proof to protect the sanctity of the vote in 2027.

> “Nigerians deserve a transparent and secure electoral process,” Omokri stated. “Political actors must conduct themselves responsibly and avoid actions or comments that cast doubt on the credibility of our democratic institutions.”

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission and relevant security agencies to remain vigilant and continue strengthening cybersecurity measures to ensure credible elections.

Omokri reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out on national issues, emphasizing the need for accountability, transparency, and respect for democratic processes as Nigeria prepares for the next electoral cycle.
